It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that Naomi and I announce that the John Candy Box Theatre in Toronto will no longer go without a douser for their mounted projector as of today.
Crafted out of construction paper, coloured with a Sharpie and hung with twine, the new douser will now make it possible to show videos in the training centre theatre with the added ability to then go to an almost complete blackout. In days past, transitions out of videos were awkwardly cast in bright light from a projector unequipped with blackout technology.
The project, which cost zero dollars and may last for at least a few months, could not have been completed without the handiwork of house technician Natalie Moore and stage manager Matt Hallworth.
We hope that many productions to come benefit from the device named in our honour during the tech of our current revue, Baram and Snieckus: Still Figuring it Out, playing till September 30. 9pm. John Candy Box Theatre. 99 Blue Jays Way.
