Script Tease borrows from the NTOW flagship show, Impromptu Splendor (The Improvised Play) but there are some dangerous twists added to the mix.
Forever pushing the boundaries of what theatre and improvisation can be, notorious crowd pleasers, Naomi Snieckus, and Matt Baram, have asked renowned playwright Justin Tanner (Bitter Women) (Pot Mom) to pen the first two pages of a new play…only TWO (A tease). Those pages are sealed in an envelope. The actors open up an envelope (having never seen its contents before), read it cold, and completely improvise the rest! The cast have finished plays started by Brad Fraser, Mark McKinney, Daniel McIvor Judith Thompson, Morris Panych, Woody Harrelson, John Patrick Shanley, Hannah Moscovitch, Linda Griffiths, and many other.
His first play, “Changing Channels” received three LA Weekly Awards and was on LA TIMES list of best new plays of 1987. He had a ten year association with The CAST Theater in Hollywood producing such long running hits as “Zombie Attack!”, “Party Mix”, “Teen Girl”, “Bitter Women”, “Pot Mom”, “Heartbreak Help”, “Intervention” and “Coyote Woman”. More recent hits include “Hot Property” at the Evidence Room; “Wife Swappers” and “Oklahomo!” at The Third Stage in Burbank; and “Space Therapy” at the Zephyr Theater in Hollywood. He did a weekly late night live comedy serial called “The Strip” starring, among others, John Waters luminary Mink Stole, and was a staff writer on television’s Gilmore Girls.
